Why I love scrubs!

Why I love scrubs!

One the great things about being part of the beauty blogging community is that I get to see what other people are obsessed with. I think it’s fantastic that we have a place to showcase our passions, be it for nail varnish, lipstick, powder, primers, body lotion, hair products – the list is endless. And while I may not be lemming for the latest MAC/NARS/Chanel collections, I totally understand why others do. I don’t see myself as any different from someone who collects stamps, coins or travels hundreds of miles to see a rare bird. While it’s not something I would do myself, I understand the happiness it brings to others.

So what is it about scrubs and exfoliation in general that make me so happy? Honestly I don’t know if I could explain it easily. All I know is that when I don’t have any exfoliation products, I get depressed. I’ve been told that I enjoy washing/showering more than most people. I’m not a morning person and most days the only thing that gets me out of bed is knowing that I have a selection of scrubs to choose from. There is something about taking off a few layers of skin that makes me feel renewed and invigorated and not just in the physical sense – it’s psychological for me as well. I think a lot of the blame lies with Bath & Body Works. The first product I ever bought from them was a loofah scrub that had a Seaspray scent. From that point I was hooked and I’ve been buffing my bod for over 20 years now.

So which scrubs bring me the most joy?

Body  – Well I can’t pick just one, they are all different. Some are gentle and hydrating, some are like belt sanders and make my skin feel like polished glass. What I prefer depends on the time of year and my mood which is why I need a variety to choose from.

Face – I’m quite picky about face exfoliation and I can only think of a few that I’ve been really happy with; Dead Sea Spa Magik Mild Exfoliator, Aesop Exfoliation Paste, and Lush Ocean Salt. This list is subject to change as I’m always discovering new ways to shed my facial skin.

Then of course there are all the hand, foot, and lip scrubs that I rely on to bring me toe-curling happiness. If you know of exfoliation products for other parts of the body please let me know!

So now it’s your turn, tell me what you cannot live without!

Blushes and bronzers are definitely my weakness. I can always justify getting a new one!

So what are your justifications? Maybe I can use them to buy more scrubs :D

Oh my, that’s a difficult question! I think it’s lipstick… Or maybe eye liner…

I can’t live without mascara, I could cope quite well if you took away my makeup bag but left me with my favourite mascara!

I love scrubs myself, I’ve recently started making my own, when I was sourcing books for uni I came across a few on making your own cosmetics and skin scrubs are the easiest! My new favourite product is dead sea salt, it’s awsome on the hands and feet and very gentle and natural to use on the body.

I need to start making my own scrubs, I’ve tried it a couple of times but you need a decent kitchen to work in which I don’t have. I really want to make a point of being more organised when I get back from my honeymoon and make more of my own beauty goodies, I know I’d at least save money. Thanks for you comment hun. x

I love the pic with the strawberry scrub.
I think I would not be able to live without eyeshadow and black mascara, I am saying that but I don’t know how I would cope without all my make-up ;-)

Well I know you would look beautiful without it but I know how much you love your beauty goodies! :D

Honestly I wasn’t a great fan of scrubs until I tried Haus of Gloi Bubbling Scrubs. I thought all scrubs were greasy messes but I was oh so wrong!

As for face, I haven’t found a perfect one yet. I’m thinking about Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant – have you tried it? Off to search your site…

I’ve never used any Dermalogica stuff can you believe it? I think I have a few samples lurking around so I’ll check to see if they are the Daily Microfoliant if you recommend it.

Only just got around to trying the House of Gloi that I won in your contest as I wanted to finish some other bits up first – fooking amazing stuff right! :D
