My sad little makeup collection part 1 – Concealers
If you read my new years day post about starting over, you’ll know that I’m going through my pathetic excuse for a makeup collection and having a good clearout with the aim to build it up again over the year. I also wanted to visit the MAC counter this week for some inspiration but I was too busy at work to take a longer lunch but I’ll get around it – Rome wasn’t built in a day right?
Anyway I thought I should share with you what I’ve found in the drawer where I keep cosmetics. They have to jostle for space amongst all the scrubs and other bits I’ve got. So here goes!
Benefit it stick – I got this free with Glamour last summer and I’m sure everyone has one of these. I find it’s difficult to use in the under eye area as it pulls but it’s pretty good at disguising angry red spots.
Here it is swatched. It’ s not too bad a match for my skin tone and I like the fact it’s a pencil. I find this easier to use than traditional concealer that comes in a tube with a spongy brush on a wand.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit – This little pot opens up into a creamy concealer and has another bit for powder. Whilst this is a good idea it can be quite fiddly.
This is Creamy Concealer in Ivory and is swatched above. It’s obviously a really good colour match for me.
I like the idea of having a little powder to carry around but as you can see above with the shaker top it does get everywhere if you aren’t careful.
And last but not least Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat in Luminous Radiance. Again who doesn’t have one of these in their makeup bag?
This is okay but I think it’s too pink for my skintone. I only use it when I’m in rush and can’t be asked to sort my eyes properly.
So what do you think? It seems to be that Bobbi Brown really suits my skin tone as their foundations and concealers are more yellow based. I really should use up what I’ve got before I splash out on new stuff……mmm let’s how long that lasts!
