’s review – Okeanos Spa Aruba Part 2
Not content with just getting treatments at the Okeanos Spa I thought I should have a manicure and pedicure too. My nail technician Aisha was a lovely native of Aruba and I was able to get to know a bit more about the beautiful island. The native language is Papiamento, a creole language that has its roots in Portuguese, West African languages, Dutch and Spanish. I was amazed that staff at the various bars and restaurants knew so many languages. I saw staff switching from English to Dutch to Spanish and everything in between which made me feel like a numpty for not making more of effort to learn any languages beyond high school.
As I had already had a manicure before my second wedding in Ohio my cuticles weren’t too bad but I was still got the same service as if my hands were ragged. I chose OPI Cuckoo For This Colour and this mani lasted a fortnight with no chips! I don’t know what Aisha did but that’s a new record for me. I can usually get at least 4 1/2 days out of Barry M mani that I do myself but this gorgeous green was with me for two weeks.
When Aisha got to my feet she wasn’t horrified by the fact that my right leg and foot were really puffy. Back in August I was sent to the hospital with suspected DVT which I didn’t need at the time as it was a few weeks before I was getting married and doing a lot of air travel. Long story short the docs decided that my puffy leg wasn’t DVT but it didn’t help with my stress levels I can tell you. Anyway Aisha worked on my feet and then really went to town on my right leg and foot and massaging them to get rid of the excess fluid. I don’t know how long the pedi was meant to last but it felt like an hour or more. I chose OPI Yodel Me On My Cell for my hooves and I’m still wearing it today as it remains intact!
Just like Rita in my previous Okeanos Spa Review, Aisha was professional, friendly and made me feel like I was a valued client. My mani and pedi didn’t feel rushed or like she was going through the motions and I really enjoyed talking to her. I have to say that the staff at the Spa and all the Aruban people we met were genuinely friendly and they really want you to enjoy yourself while you are visiting. Now I know why my mom’s friend goes there every year, Jamie and I would definitely go back again.
