Natura Ekos Castanha Smoothing Hand Balm 75g

I recently did a beauty swap with Adriana of Gloss Boudoir and she sent me two things from Brazilian beauty brand Natura. The company has been around for 40 years and follows the same sales model as Avon by using consultants. They are the leading beauty brand in South America and sell skincare, cosmetics, hair care, and perfumes. The ingredients that are used are from the Amazon Rainforest, so their products are very different to what you would see in Europe. You’ll find lotions, scrubs, and bath oils made from Brazil Nuts, Yellow Passion & Pitanga Fruit, and various tree saps. I was quite excited when I received my box of goodies from Mexico via DHL.

The hand balm has been voted Elle Mexico’s best hand cream for and it’s not difficult to understand why. I had been using Crabtree & Evelyn Citron Age Defying Hand Therapy for several weeks and I thought it was okay. It has a lovely uplifting zesty lemon scent and seemed to do the job. When I started using the Natura hand balm I realised that the C&E was just ordinary. The Natura hand balm is made from Brazil Nuts which are 69% fat. Not great for the diet but great for your hands. The scent is a creamy, nutty smell similar to Macadamia oil. The balm itself is quite thick like butter as you can see below.

The most amazing thing about this cream is that even though it is thick it spreads really well, sinks into the skin to leave a silky softness. There isn’t anything greasy about this at all which it was I was expecting from such a rich cream. I’m lucky enough that I never have chapped hands but this would definitely soothe irritated dry hands that are frequently washed or immersed in water; I’m thinking people with children or those in the health care, hair dressing and beauty therapist professions.

Natura do loads of different products, I lost several hours on their website reading about all the ingredients they use and learning about their extensive sustainability programme. Currently Natura is only available in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Peru, and France and this hand balm is priced at €14. I do hope they eventually work their way over the UK but for now I will just have to beg and plead with Adriana to send me some more when this runs out. With regards to the photo of her Madgesty at the beginning of the post, it just shows that hands don’t lie, make sure you take care them!

Thanks Cristina – us ladies are never happy are we, we always want something that we can’t have. I’ve saved my hand cream so I can use it again now and I’m just about to finish the body lotion this week. Every time I use the hand cream at work someone always wants to know what it is.

If you have any influence tell Natura to come to the UK please! :D
