’s homemade foot scrub, hand lotion, and whipped body butter
Further to my post about homemade goodies a few weeks ago I’ve got more pictures of stuff I made that weekend. These are are all made using very few ingredients and are relatively easy to make depending on your amount of patience!
Lemon Hand Cream – This is made from rice bran oil, beeswax, and coconut oil with lemon essential oil. I realise it looks a bit like lemon curd but you can’t eat it – well you can but it wouldn’t taste very good. I’ve not used any colourings in this, the yellow hue is from the rice bran oil.
This was left to harden overnight but as you can see it melts on contact with skin. You can smell the lemons when you open the plastic container but it doesn’t last so I think I need to use more essential oil next time.
Lemon Lime Foot Scrub – This is made from olive oil, sea salt, table salt, ground pumice, and lemon and lime essential oils.
Of course I had loads of fun making this. I do realise it looks like aggregate because of the colour but it does smell quite zesty. This can also be made with grapeseed or sweet almond oil.
Strawberry Whipped Body Butter – This is made from shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E oil. We made the body butter in a batch then split it up for each of us to add our own fragrance. I added strawberry fragrance oil and pink mica powder to mine. This takes a bit longer to make because you have to keep whipping the mixture and then you let it set.
I took this picture while it was still cooling down so it’s not as ‘whipped’ looking as it should be. The next day it hardened up and now looks like a body butter you would find at The Body Shop. It smells fantastic and I have to say out of all the things I’ve made I’m most impressed with this. My friend Christine has offered to be a guinea pig if I make her some bespoke body butters.
I will review these in full along with my previous creations in the next few weeks. Thanks for reading!
