Laura’s review – Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company

I love it when I come across a skin care company I haven’t heard of before. I can never resist trying new products especially when I know not many other people I know will have tried them, so I can then tell my friends all about the fabulous new products I have ‘discovered’!

I came across the Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company on a visit to Edinburgh a few years ago. They had a stall at an organic market, and the gentleman on the stall was so friendly, helpful and enthusiastic about their products I couldn’t resist trying them out. I bought ‘The Luxury Number One’ solid hand cream bar, which comes in it’s own little tin, making it super handy for taking on holiday and keeping by the bed or on your desk, and the fact that it comes in a solid bar that melts on contact with your hands (it even melts in my hands which are always freezing cold) makes it really easy to use. I have not seen the hand cream bar since my husband tried it, and discovered it worked on his super dry hands (when nothing else would – and he has tried everything), so on our next visit to Edinburgh, we bought another one, as well as two luxury gift boxes (containing a whipped body butter, a soap, a little jar of lip balm and a bath bomb) which I knew would make great Christmas presents for my friends.

Since my first visit, I have tried the following products:

Lavender & Frankincense Whipped Body Butter – which I love. It comes in a little Kilner jar which looks fab on my dressing table, it smells gorgeous, with Sweet Orange, Lemongrass, Lime, Lavender, Geranium, Frankincense and Myrrh Essential Oils, it soaks in well, isn’t too greasy, and keeps my skin feeling really moisturised, soft and healthy.

Geranium & Sweet Orange Lip Balm – which I also love, as it smells lovely, and keeps my lips really soft. My only complaint about this product is that it’s another one that melts on contact with your skin, and with it being in a small jar, it can be quite difficult to get out, without scraping it out with your nail (see my previous post about my dislike of getting lip balm down my nails).

The lip balms, hand cream bars and body butters are all made using East Lothian beeswax which comes direct from local bee keepers.

My latest Edinburgh Skincare product is the ‘Super Intensive Hair Repair Mask for Ladies’ which contains Coconut Oil, virgin organic unrefined Shea Butter, Avocado Butter, Mango Butter and Organic Argan Oil. I rub it into my hair before going to bed, and while I go to bed with hair like a greasy haystack, it is worth it in the morning when I wash my hair and once dried, it is silky, shiny and manageable.

Next on my list to try is the Ultra Rich Anti Ageing Face Cream… so watch this space!

The Edinburgh Skincare Company is a small Scottish Company specialising in exclusive hand crafted soaps and natural body care products. They use no artificial fragrance oils, no artificial colourings, no preservatives and scent everything they make with essential oils.

I love the thought that I am using natural products on my skin, and these ones smell gorgeous, and they really work too! Their products can be purchased online at

Hmmm…interesting. This is my first time to hear about this brand and it seem interesting. They seem to have great products to try out. I will def check on this and see what I will use for the first time.

It is very good. I would recommend the hand cream bars, or the whipped body butter for a first time try.

I think my greasy haystack could use the Wild Thing Hair Repair right now. My hair is fooked from the heating being on so high in my parents house. Tennessee doesn’t get that cold even January but everyone is acting like it’s Siberia!

There not hard like us going out with no coats on! :D

These look great. I love the packaging too, nothing like natural handmade products for a bit of pampering x

They’re fab! I love the smell of essential oils too, and these products are packed with them. I think it’s a good job i don’t live in Edinburgh or this company would cost me a fortune! :)
