My makeup shopping list!

My makeup shopping list!

by on February 28, 2017 · 11 comments

Well now that you all know how paltry my makeup collection is I’m now ready to share my thoughts about what I would like purchase over the next few months. I’ve realised over the years that I’ve used all different brands of cosmetics from eye-watering expensive (Chantecaille) to cheap as chips (Barry M) but the one brand I’ve always gone back to time and time again is Clinique. I don’t know why but it’s like a comfort blanket and I think I should start with them for my basics and build my collection from there.

Clinique Chubby Sticks – I love the look of these. I don’t really like full on lipstick and these offer sheer moisturising colour in a convenient stick. These aren’t available in the UK as yet (possibly April/May) but I have seen a few you tube reviews from my fellow Americans that were quite positive.

Clinique Glossy Mascara – This may be an old standby but it works. I love Jet Brown – it’s a brown black that is perfect for women like me who want to use mascara during the day but still want it to look natural.

Clinique Super Fine Liner for Brows – This was recommended to me by Debbie from This week I have mostly been loving blog. She’s got great eyebrows and she did a blog post tutorial just for me which you can check out here.

Clinique Touch Base for Eyes – I’ve been out of the makeup game for so long I didn’t realise they still did this. It works great on it’s own to give your eyelids a bit of colour or as a primer for other eyeshadow. Even though I have oily skin I found that this used stay put on my eyes for most the day.

I’m sure there will be other things that I will put on this list as I finish up what I have. I’m not quite ready do a reveal sans makeup a la Katy Perry on Twitter just yet tho!

@sweet_miss_jo Clinique doesn’t seem to get featured on many beauty blogs, hopefully that will change with the chubby sticks.

@Sultry Red – I spoke to your purse, she says it okay!

Thanks for stopping by ladies!

Hi – just catching up on some weekend reading and spotted the mention – thanks loads for this and the link to the post, it is much appreciated and I am sorry I didn’t spot it sooner. Will want to see how you get on with the super fine liner so will be expecting pics! Oh and a word of caution, do not let yourself be talked into the thicker pencil with the highlighting end, its pants. Its much too chunky to do the really fine lines you need to “create” brows where none exist, although it would prob be fine if you have lavish brows that just need colouring in. The highlighter end is a complete waste of space though, whatever state your brows are in!

@Debbie – Lavish brows??? ha ha that ship sailed a long time ago when I was in high school. I hate taking pictures of myself hence anyone only ever seeing my hand for swatches but for eyebrow posts you need to see before and afters. Thanks for the info on the thicker pencil, I can’t go from no brows to looking like they’ve been drawn on with a big fat crayon! lol

Now Jade don’t be silly – shopping urges don’t need to be cured, maybe sometimes they just need to be curbed instead. I’ve got a little section on my shelves in the bathroom for things that I need to use up so it’s kind of like a Project Pan but with bath and body stuff.
