Lush Sympathy for the Skin Hand & Body Lotion review by Sammy

Bath & Body

Some of my favourite things in life can be rather alternative, Rum Raisin ice cream over Chocolate, Rum instead of wine and I quite like Brussel sprouts. My love for all things scented Banana seems to be an unusual one too! I really didn’t want to start this blog post off with the statement of I like Bananas , that seemed rather wrong and quite rude lol. It is true though ( minds out of the gutters ladies ) I love the fruit, banana cake, banana ice cream you name it I like it. So when I came across Sympathy for the Skin on the Lush website I really didn’t read any further past the inclusion of my yellow friends.

Bananas are included along with vanilla, almond oil and cocoa butter to really ensure that your skin is left super soft and with enough moisture to get you through the day. Lush actually include real mashed organic bananas in this cream which is why the scent is less custard and rather of ripe real bananas. The scent is something that I think you will either be a fan of or dislike with a passion as it is quite strong but if you like it you won’t be able to stay away from it.

Sympathy for the Skin open

The texture of the body lotion is not dense like a body butter but smooth and easily absorbed. You can see Vanilla seeds suspended within the lotion. It is amazing to use on your legs after shaving and seems to soothe any razor burn that I get from time to time. My rough patches on my elbows have more or less gone after even the toughest scrubs could not shift them. (You’ve not used the right scrubs! – )

I used the lotion yesterday morning and the scent has gone but the softness has stayed.

This is without a doubt a winner for me and I am now on my 3rd tub of the stuff and use it every day now that I have ran out of my Aveeno. I would even go as far to say that if I ever have children they better like Bananas because I will be using this after their baths!

Oh and for Rolling Stone fans out there Sympathy for the Skin was named after the track “Sympathy for the Devil”.

£10.75 for 240g

It is really an amazing body cream! Ask them for a little sample when you go in to the shop and they should give you one to try at home. Please let us know what you think of it xoxo

Hi Jenny – I like foody smells in my bath & body products too probably because I like being able to smell myself all day. I’m strange like that! :D

Ok… not a big fan of the bannana scent. Interesting package though. Might want to make sure you keep it way out of reach of children…less they seem to think it is something good to eat??

Sounds like a good idea Loren, that is the problem with foodie skincare – it can be tempting to eat it! xoxo

Banana smell is not particularly liked by me but my hubby is mad about it. I just use it to make him happy. Great product. absolutely like it.

Well if you ever want to give your husband a real treat then you might want to buy this Banana Flambee perfume from Demeter – although you might find he starts chomping on you too!

I love the smell of banana and this looks like it has a lovely texture. Definitely one to try!

This does have a great texture, however I found that each batch smells slightly different so give them all a sniff before you purchase. Either way they all smell good like cake! xoxo

I really want a tub of this. I’ve tried it several times in store but have yet to purchase it. I usually get bath bombs and occasional shower gels and cleansers. This ranks high on my wish list amongst far too numerous beauty products.
It’s really nice to read a review on a product I’ve tested out before just to see a different perspective of the same product. :)

Hey Janessa – When I went to Lush recently with Sammy I bought loads of stuff and I had no intention of doing so, all these things just jumped into the basket and begged to be taken home. I’m impressed that you’ve shown such resistance to the vortex of Lush! :D
