Lucky Tiger Review | Face Scrub

When bad packaging happens to good products

I bought this Lucky Tiger Face Scrub back in 2009 and gave it a great review. So why is it still lurking on my bathroom shelf after all this time? Well the makers of Lucky Tiger took a lot of care making sure the bottle had old-fashioned charm but they stopped short on how practical it would be to get the cleanser out of the bottle. Now this is a foaming gel exfoliator, so it’s not super thick but it’s very difficult to get it out and you can see why below!

See that teeny tiny little hole? This is what the cleanser is supposed to come out of, and this is why it’s been with Jamie and I for two years. While we both love it, the last thing we want to do at 7.00am is alligator wrestle face wash out of a bottle. The only solution would be to take the plastic stopper out, but then one of us (Jamie) would spill it all over the place. Eventually we will finish this, but it will prevent me from buying LT again. It’s such a shame because it’s a lovely refreshing face wash.

Lucky Tiger take note!

    Hmm, that’s annoying!

What you can do is put it it one of those travel bottles… (you shouldn’t have to, but ok!)

I hear ya. I’m a big fan of pHisohex (really potent chemist product for acne) but you so much as look at the flip top lid and it breaks, rendering it completely unable to travel or move anywhere beyond my shower floor. Can’t imagine what the constant air contacts doing as well :(

@Kizzy – You know I never thought of that it’s the obvious solution. If I decant it into a smaller more usable bottle then I can take it the gym with me. Thanks!

@Suzanne – LMAO I’ve had a few of those in my time. It also makes it really difficult for older people or people with disabilities to use things like too.

Always a pleasure ladies – thanks for stopping by! x

How annoying! Reminds me of the foundations in glass bottles – such a pain to get it out once it starts to run low! You *could* use a heavy guage piercing needle to make the hole bigger…they’re cheap off eBay. Just a thought!

  5. Pinkty says:

Ah that is a pain to have a good product in such a pack packaging, and I understand you when you say you don’t want to try to get the product out in the morning !

  6. says:

@Lily – Thanks for the advice, I did think of making the hole bigger and if I can’t get the stopper out I think I will have to result to the needle method.
@PInkty – It’s slipped out of my hand more than once when I’ve tried to squeeze it. Good thing it’s not a glass bottle :O

    Thanks for your comments girlies!

  7. You could also enlarge the hole with a small screwdriver, like the kind you’d use to fix eyeglasses or do computer repairs. Maybe even a knitting needle would work? Hopefully you’d have at least one of those around the house already!

  8. says:

@MLBB – I think we do have a small screwdriver buried in a drawer somewhere, but I know I don’t have a knitting needle. I think I’m going to tackle the bottle this weekend to see if I can sort it out.

Thanks for stopping by Atlanta babe!
