Quick review – Illuminare Fast Application Pad

by on November 22, 2012 · 0 comments

When it comes to applying foundation, I’ve always been a sponge girl. No matter how many times I’ve been shown how to use a makeup brush to apply it, I’ve never got the hang of it. I can use a brush to apply foundation on other people’s faces no problem, but when I have a go at my face it just looks streaky. Of course the problem with sponges is that they soak up your foundation. When I was given the opportunity to try an alternative I jumped at the chance. This is an application ‘pad’ not a sponge. It’s cute as you can see from the leopard print but it does have a use!

Now I’m sure you all know what a makeup sponge looks like but I wanted to give you a side by side comparison. The Illuminare Pad isn’t spongy at all and it’s covered in a fabric that reminds me of stuffed teddy bears! This makes it soft to use and you don’t the usual pull or drag as you normally get with a sponge. I use Bobbi Brown stick foundation which can be quite thick but this helped to make my application less heavy-handed. I had to use this a few times to get the hang of it just because it’s different but it does give my foundation application a more smooth and even look. I also like the fact that you can toss it in the washing machine however I just washed mine in the sink as normal with Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Face Wash and let it air dry. I don’t know how much longer this would last as opposed to a pad, but presumably if you take care of it at least 6 months.

You can purchase this at Cocktail Cosmetics for £7.95. Illuminare foundation has also had some great reviews from US beauty bloggers which are also available at Cocktail Cosmetics!
