Do 2 in 1 products work for you?

by on May 8, 2012 · 14 comments

I know 2 in 1 products are a way to save money and time and I’ve tried to love these but I can’t bring myself to do it any longer. Let me explain….

Lucky Tiger

I’ve had the Lucky Tiger Head to Tail Shampoo & Bodywash forever and I’m making Jamie use it up because I hate it – yes I actually hate it. You can use this to wash your mop and your bod at the same time but I’ve never felt very clean after using it. The peppermint is way too overpowering and the lather disappears very quickly. Now I know some people say that you don’t need foaming agents to get clean as it’s only a gimmick, but that gimmick works on me! As a shampoo it’s okay but I still need a conditioner afterwards and as a body wash it’s like using water.

I only just bought the Aussome Volume 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioner the other week when I was in Superdrug. I saw a man standing around with a clipboard in the shampoo aisle so I hastily grabbed the 2 in 1 and a separate conditioner as I did’t read the label properly. I managed to shuffle past clipboard man before he started me questions about shampoo presumably. It’s a good thing I picked up the conditioner too, this washes my hair really well but without conditioner my wet hair is impossible to comb through – even with my fingers. This might work better if my hair was really short but it’s a little past my shoulders so it’s a no go for me.

I know Philosophy also do 3 in 1 products that can be used as shampoo, shower gel, and bath foam but I’ve never got on with those either. So what do you think – can you really clean and condition your hair at the same time? Are you happy to wash your hair with the same product you shower with?

Lemme know in the comments!

I just don’t like 2 in 1 / 3 in 1 products. I prefer to buy individual products ie shampoo and separate conditioner and body wash for a particular body type. If you have normal hair and skin like my other half a product that does everything is fine but for me I need separates.

Yes I definitely need separates too and does anyone have ‘normal’ hair and skin?

I tend to avoid buying 2-in-1 products, but on the odd occasion when I get them I’m usually disappointed and find they perform fairly well at one thing, but are useless at the other one. As a result you’d need to use two separate products anyway, so why bother?

Yes exactly I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t had any success with them! Thanks for you comment xoxo

I usually only use the 2-in-1 shampoo conditioners as really moisturizing shampoos. My hair needs a lot more conditioner than what those usually offer. I’ve never tried the philosophy products, but I’d be up for it! I would probably double them up as a shower gel and a bubble bath.

Hey Kelly – I can understand the shower gel/bubble bath thing as they are basically the same thing but I don’t think I’d wash my hair with it too even if it did smell Gingerbread or Pumpkin Pie!

It depends on the product. Some 2 in 1′s are formulated better than others. When I find one that performs its dual purpose well, I stick with it.

Well Carla if you have a list of 2 in 1′s that work for you I’d like to know which ones they are! xoxo

Although I love the idea of 2 in 1 products cos when they work, they make you save time, in reality they very rarely work for me. So lately I’ve started to avoid them too..

I think 2 in 1′s were created for men as they don’t like to fuss in the shower but most men don’t use conditioner anyway so they wouldn’t know the difference! lol xoxo

I feel the same way you do – I like the idea but in practice I have never been crazy about how 2-in-1 products perform!

Let’s face Emma to a beauty blogger performance is everything right? ; )

The only 2 in 1 products I like are the bath creme and shower gel ones. I don’t like shampoo & conditioner combos as I find they are really useless.

Totally useless I agree, well at least the Aussie one made my hair smell good but I certainly won’t buy it again. xoxo
