Novartis representatives in primary and secondary care will distribute the materials or they can be downloaded from our website. Both documents have an insert (COPD review template or self management plan) and extra copies will only be available via download from these pages.

Introduction

The publication of the NICE quality standards has delivered a step change in benchmarking the quality of care delivered to patients suffering with COPD. From diagnosis to end of life, this guide with the COPD review template will help you achieve these standards in both primary and secondary care. These documents can be downloaded and used freely.
NICE Quality Standards

The Booklet

This guide walks through the 13 NICE quality standards for COPD published in 2011. The standards are to be used in parallel with the NICE 2010 Guidelines for COPD.

These standards apply across the healthcare spectrum from primary to secondary care. They cover initial diagnosis, guidance on stable disease and exacerbation therapy, self-management, rehabilitation, and end of life.

The NICE quality standards are a benchmark to which providers and commissioners should aspire to. The booklet is now available for download here.
 
COPD Annual Review

Patient Review

The review template that accompanies this guide is to be used at the patient review. The template guides clinicians through the review to help deliver the NICE quality standards. Completing the review and the template takes approximately 40 minutes for each patient. It should be used in conjunction with the self-management material. The template can be downloaded here.
